Hey, I’m Heather! I’m a Michigan runner. You probably won’t find me bragging about my speed (I’m in it for the vibes and shoes).
For years, I was a very inconsistent pepper spray user. I could tolerate holding it on runs for a while, but it got severely annoying after a mile.
I tried putting it in the pocket of my stretchy shorts. My pepper spray would fly out of my pocket without my knowledge (I still have no idea how this is possible, as my shorts are TIGHT). When I would realize I no longer had my pepper spray, I had no idea how far behind me it was.
I got sick and tired of being sick and tired, so I made something that actually works: the Cari Pepper Spray Pocket.

How does the Cari Pepper Spray Pocket work?
The elastic band wraps around the center panel of your favorite sports bra. Silicone grip lines help hold it snug to the bra. The stretchy fabric pocket holds most standard pepper spray and gel canisters. Attach the pocket to the band via the magnet, and you’re ready to go!
When needed, simply grab your pepper spray and pull up, and your pepper spray is ready to use.

Bras
The Cari Pepper Spray Pocket is designed to work with wire-free bras.
We currently offer two adjustable band lengths: Small (2.5″–9″ adjustable length) and Medium (8.5″–14″ adjustable length). Both Small and Medium bands are included in this kit.
The Small and Medium bands fit most bras, due to the band stretch and ability to tighten it around the bra, compressing it slightly. A tighter fit is actually good, as it helps prevent chafing from rotation of the band around the sports bra.
Care Instructions
Handwash cold, air dry. Do not machine wash or dry. Magnetic and fabric components are safe for standard household washes but air drying protects the silicone grip lines over time.
FAQ
Q: Will this fit my sports bra?
A: The Cari Pepper Spray Pocket and adjustable bands work with non-underwire bras. Racerback, front-zip, sports bras, and standard-band styles all work. Underwire bras are not compatible.
Q: What size pepper spray fits the pocket?
A: Most popular standard cylindrical canisters. Some shorter or wider canisters may not seat correctly; check the Compatibility section above to see if your pepper spray (or one similar) has been tested to be confirmed compatible.
Q: Will it bounce or shift while I run?
A: The silicone grip lines and Velcro-adjustable closure are specifically designed to prevent rotation and bounce. Testers have confirmed it stays stable while running.
Q: Can I wear it under a shirt?
A: Yes! The Cari Pepper Spray Pocket sits flat enough to wear under your existing clothing. The draw still works from above most tops, if the neckline isn’t too tight/small. Practice first before relying on it in the field.
Q: Is it legal to carry pepper spray in my state?
A: Cari Project does not sell pepper spray. However, if you plan to use our products with pepper spray, it is important to know that pepper spray laws vary by state: age limits, canister size, concentration, and where you can purchase or carry it all depend on where you live. Before you buy spray (we don’t sell it), take time to check your state’s current rules. A few good starting points:

I absolutely LOVE this product. I never thought I’d break out my pepper spray again. It just wasn’t worth the hassle. Surprisingly it wasn’t expired yet, and after trying out this new product, it’s now the easiest decision I make in the morning for my daily walks!
